I’ve got a long, long runway in between me and my next trip abroad, and so I was beyond grateful when the very-European, but very-local Cafe Riggs invited me and a friend to join them for dinner one evening. Cafe Riggs is located in the heart of downtown DC inside of The Riggs Hotel - a gorgeous and glamorous space that was originally built at a bank in 1891. In both the hotel and the cafe (as well as the cocktail bar downstairs, curated by one of the world’s leading mixologists), the designers have thoughtfully highlighted the original design details, allowing you to feel like you’ve escaped into another moment in time. Cafe Riggs also hosts an excellent brunch that I can personally attest to.
